Program Accreditation

PES has years of experience in developing and maintaining credentialing programs that stand up to rigorous industry accreditation standards. Our Advisory Services Department can assist with a range of activities, including practice analysis, validation studies, standard setting, and documentation, that are designed to ensure your program - whether a licensure/registration, certification, or assessment-based certificate program - meets or exceeds the standards required by accreditation bodies.

Readiness for Accreditation Study

PES will objectively evaluate your program and examination(s) with the goal of determining how well they conform to generally accepted credentialing standards. Your program will be evaluated against criteria such as those established and/or espoused by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA), the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), the Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing (APA, AERA, NCME), the Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing Certification (ABSNC), and the Guidelines for the Development, Use, and Evaluation of Licensure and Certification Examinations (PES). Conducting both a psychometric analysis and an analysis of other program components, PES will identify where there are variations from testing industry standards and provide recommendations for aligning your program with those standards.

Accreditation Application Forensics

If you have already prepared an application for accreditation, PES will critically evaluate it, identify and document the weaknesses, and map out a strategic plan for addressing those weaknesses and crafting a successful re-application. In cases where our forensic evaluation identifies significant variation from accreditation standards in terms of the methodologies, practices, or structure of your credentialing program, we can assist you in prioritizing and taking the appropriate steps to align your program with those standards.

Accreditation Application Support

Whether you are a PES client or not, PES’s Advisory Services Department has guided sponsors of credentialing programs through the complexities of the application process and has assisted them in meeting the requirements of accreditation agencies such as the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA), the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), and the Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing Certification (ABSNC). We can advise you on how to meet accreditation standards, design an application strategy that incorporates the required elements for a successful application, identify potential weaknesses in your application and suggest mitigation strategies, and assist you in the preparation of required documentation, all leading to your credential being recognized as meeting the highest industry standards.
