Psychometric Consulting

PES offers a full range of psychometric consulting services in support of credentialing programs, including, but not limited to:

Reliability/Validity Analysis

PES conducts an analysis of results data from an existing examination to determine the impact of shortened versions of the examination on reliability, as well as the minimum number of operational items that would be required to yield reliability estimates comparable to those produced by the current version of an examination, while still conforming to test specifications.

Cheating Analysis

PES conducts a comprehensive cheating analysis of the results from an examination administration. Using the response strings of all candidates who tested during a given examination administration or timeframe, and drawing on statistical flags within and across test administration sites as well as documented reports of possible cheating from test administration sites, PES identifies any cohorts of candidates whose results (and potentially behavior) suggest evidence of possible cheating or collaboration, as well as any administration sites that have outperformed the overall pass rate.

Bias and Fairness Review

PES reviews an item bank or examination form(s) to ensure that items are fair, valid, and appropriate, and free from cultural bias against minority populations or unequal impact on non-native speakers of English. Using fairness review scales, PES determines if the context, setting, and content of items are equally appropriate and familiar across all segments of the target candidate population; and if items are free of language, descriptions, and terminology that might be offensive or reinforce common stereotypes.

Psychometric “Boot Camp”

PES offers a credentialing organization’s staff, board members, SMEs, and/or key stakeholders an intensive orientation to the psychometric principles and practices that underlie a reliable, defensible credentialing assessment.
