| Gerald Rosen Appointed Vice President for Programs at PES New York, NY, September 2001 - Professional Examination Service (PES) is pleased to announce the appointment of Gerald A. Rosen, Ed.D., to the position of Vice President for Programs, effective July 30, 2001. In this role, Dr. Rosen will manage a staff of 18 professional and support personnel and will set strategic direction for a key department at PES. Members of the Program Department serve as the main point of contact for clients and are responsible for coordinating all program-related activities across the various PES departments on behalf of client organizations. He assumes responsibility for the Program Department from Pat Jones, Executive Vice President at PES, who will focus on expanding PESs products and services, particularly in technology-related areas. Dr. Rosen will also draw on his recent experience as Executive Consultant at Prometric to plan and coordinate all PES program work with its computer-based testing (CBT) vendors on behalf of clients who are currently testing on computer or are considering a move to computer-based testing. PES has established strategic partnerships with several CBT vendors, including Prometric, in order to be able to offer clients an array of choices for computer delivery of their credentialing examinations. Dr. Rosens in-depth knowledge of the issues surrounding the administration of examinations on computer, as well as his familiarity with the organizational structure and working practices of a major computer testing network, places him in an ideal position to develop strategy and solve problems with CBT vendors on behalf of PES clients. Dr. Rosen is returning to PES after eight years with Prometric, where his duties included: working with clients to coordinate the transition from paper-and-pencil to computer-based testing and to manage ongoing computer-based testing; serving as the internal consultant to Prometric staff on testing and measurement-related issues; and training new staff in the basics of testing and testing markets. Before joining Prometric in 1993, he was a Vice President at PES, where he worked for nearly 10 years directing the development and administration of national licensure and certification examinations. Commenting on his appointment, Dr. Rosen said, "Im pleased to be back at PES helping clients make effective decisions to enhance and expand their credentialing programs." Dr. Rosen has a total of 30 years experience in the testing arena. He is an acknowledged expert in licensure and certification testing, and has extensive experience in the computer-based delivery of credentialing examinations. He holds a doctorate in Measurement, Evaluation, and Techniques of Experimental Research from the University of Pennsylvania, and is a licensed psychologist. Dr. Rosen may be reached at (212) 367-4235 or at jerry@proexam.org. PES is a nonprofit organization with 60 years experience developing, implementing, and evaluating licensure and certification programs. PESs mission is to promote the understanding and use of sound credentialing practices by providing comprehensive services and making contributions to credentialing stakeholders in the areas of assessment practice, educational activities, scientific research, and policy development.
