| . PES Establishes Competency Assurance Program for Chief Examiners New York, NY, October 1996 - Professional Examination Service (PES) is pleased to announce the establishment of a Competency Assurance Program for Chief Examiners employed at the company's international network of test sites. The Chief Examiner plays a key role in test administration at a site, including selecting and preparing the test site, recruiting and training test administration personnel, registering test candidates and managing candidate concerns, as well as ensuring the secure handling of all test materials. By introducing competency assurance for its Chief Examiners, PES aims to provide credentialing clients with the highest possible standards of quality service in test administration. PES has established detailed procedures to ensure uniform and secure test administration conditions, and Chief Examiner recruitment and training is guided by a strict quality-control perspective. Developed to further enhance quality control, the Chief Examiner Competency Assurance Program requires prospective Chief Examiners to demonstrate the knowledge necessary to achieve secure, standardized test administrations in which candidates are treated with respect and sensitivity. All Chief Examiners are expected to complete the program by the summer of 1997. To successfully complete the program, individuals are required to study a Chief Examiner Training Manual describing the step-by-step procedures required for each stage of test administration, and to pass a 50-item examination assessing the knowledge and skills necessary to administer credentialing tests. Successful candidates will receive a certificate of achievement as well as an increased honorarium from PES. Both the training manual and the associated examination were developed by a multi-disciplinary team of exam construction and test administration experts from the Program, Test Administration, Statistics, Research & Development, and Editorial departments at PES, in accordance with procedures set out in the PES Guidelines for the Development, Use, and Evaluation of Licensure and Certification Programs. © Copyright 1997-2006 Professional Examination Service.
